Service Description
What is Laser Hair Removal? Akala is proud to be the top provider of laser hair removal in Hawaii. If you’re tired of shaving, waxing, tweezing, to remove unwanted hair, or suffer from razor burn and irritated bumps, it’s time to switch over to laser hair removal! Laser hair removal is one of the most popular and commonly performed cosmetic procedures in the United States. The machine beams light in hair follicles, a pigment in the follicles absorbs the light, which destroys the hair. At Akala Med Spa, we proud to use the Akala Laser Hair Removal Machine, which is one of the top leading devices for hair removal, delivering lasting results, at a much quicker time. The procedure is virtually painless, due to the strong built-in cooling function in the laser hair removal machine. Procedure: At Akala Med Spa, we use the Akala machine for laser hair removal. First, we apply a cooling gel in the treatable area. The Akala laser treatment uses a diode laser beam to pass through your skin and penetrate the hair follicles. The laser energy heats up the root of the hair follicle causing it to die off, which in turn prevents future hair growth. Depending on the area, the procedure will take anywhere from 5 – 15 minutes. Patients are asked to avoid direct sunlight in the area for 7 days prior to the service, and 7 days after. Patients are recommended to come every 6 weeks for maintenance treatments. Results can be seen after just a few sessions. Permanent hair reduction is generally seen after 6-8 sessions. Results: 10 days after your procedure, you will begin to notice hair falling out in the treatment area. This is because the hair follicle in the compromised region is beginning to die. *Please refrain from using a tweezer or epilator in the region for at least 6 weeks. Shaving with a razor is fine. POST PROCEDURE CARE: Protect the area from sun-light. Direct sun exposure should be avoided for a minimum of 7 days. Use a sunscreen with a SPF of at least 30. Make sure you reapply the sunblock often. Avoid exposing skin to heat sources until it has entirely healed. This can increase irritation. Avoid hot water, saunas, and steam rooms for a minimum of 48 hours.
